Four found dead with plastic bags over head in Bachok

BACHOK: Four people were found murdered near a padi field with plastic bags over their heads at Kampung Tanjung Hilir Bekelam near here on Sunday.

The bodies, which had multiple stab wounds, were found in some thick undergrowth.

State police chief Datuk Dr Ab. Rahman Ismail said the victims, aged between 20 and 30, could have been killed elsewhere three days ago and the bodies dumped at the area.

“There were wounds on their hands, thighs and stomach and one of the deceased had a tattoo on his hand.

“We are working on the theory of revenge and it may have something to do with an on-going investigation," he said.

The bodies have been sent to the Raja Perempuan Zainab II Hospital for postmortem.

A 41-year-old local man, who was passing the area at about 6.45pm on Sunday, discovered the bodies due to their strong smell.

The murders could be drug related. In Kelantan, drugs with a street value of over RM16mil were seized this year.

Grandmother suffers burns to save grandson from fire

KOTA KINABALU: A grandmother suffered burns on her face and right arm after she rushed into a burning room to rescue her eight-month-old grandson on Monday morning.

Waasi Laali, in her 50s, managed to bring Gaireil Lapiga to safety while other family members grabbed the other children and ran out of the house after it caught fire at about 8.30am at Kg. Buang Sayang, Lahad Datu.

The baby suffered minor burns on his hand. Both have been sent to the hospital for treatment.

Lahad Datu fire station chief Mohd Apandi Mahmood said they were still investigating the cause of fire that destroyed the wooden house.

“There were eight people in the house when the fire occurred and all of them are safe,” he said when contacted.The fire was brought under control at about 9.22am.

Husband and wife die, teen daughter injured in Jempol traffic accident

BANDAR SERI JEMPOL: A man and wife died while three others were injured in a traffic accident at Jalan Besar Felda Serting Hilir, here today. The car carrying Nasrudin A. Ghani, 53, and his wife Noridah Ahmad, 47, were rammed by another vehicle around 9pm. The other car was driven by a 29-year-old, who lost control of his vehicle before slamming into Nasrudin's car. The couple's 13-year-old daughter and two other victims were also injured as a result. Nasrudin and Noridah died at the scene due to serious head injuries. Jempol district police chief Superintendent Noorzainy Mohd Noor said all the victims were sent to the Jempol Hospital.

Assemble with The Avengers at Singapore show

Star Media Group’s Marvel Avengers S.T.A.T.I.O.N. (Scientific Training and Tactical Intelligence Operative Network) exhibition opens in Singapore tomorrow.

The interactive showcase, which runs until March 5 at the Annex Hall of the Science Centre Singapore (SCS), features Marvel characters such as Captain America, Thor, Iron Man, the Hulk, Hawkeye, Black Widow, Ant Man, Vision and Falcon.

S.T.A.T.I.O.N. is an immersive experience that allows visitors to live within the Marvel cinematic universe and become part of the adventure by studying the science behind their favourite superheroes.

It features original sets, props and costumes, as well as interactive and special effects.

Visitors will have the opportunity to become recruits and gather in-depth knowledge on each of the characters to become part of a combat support network for The Avengers team.

They will also be able to catch a Marvel movie, which will be screened at 11am and 3pm daily for the duration of the exhibition. S.T.A.T.I.O.N. previously opened in New York, Paris, Las Vegas and Seoul.

Star Media Group owns 53% of Cityneon Holdings Ltd, which in turn owns Victory Hill Exhibitions Pte Ltd (VHE), the company that has the rights to exhibit characters from the Marvel and Avengers series.

VHE holds the rights to operate, market and promote the Marvel exhibits for display in museums and science centres or other similar venues.

Photos of schoolgirl chained to pole goes viral

PETALING JAYA: Photos of a girl in school uniform who appears to have been chained to a pole in an apartment block here have gone viral on social media.

The images circulating on Facebook since Wednesday evening show the girl’s right leg being chained to a pole while her school bag and water bottle are left lying on the ground beside her.

It was not immediately clear if she had been left there by a parent or guardian, and for how long.

Based on the photos, the incident appears to have occurred in the parking lot of a residential block, with one Facebook user claiming it was located somewhere in Sunway.

Netizens were quick to condemn the act, with many of them blaming the girl’s parents for resorting to such measures to punish their child.

However, there were those who defended the “tough love”, but disagreed with such public punishment.

Some also criticised fellow Facebook users for widely sharing the images of the girl, urging them to lodge a police report instead.

Upset man torches home, destroys five other houses in process

IPOH: Six houses in Taman Kuan Woh Yuen, Jalan Bendahara here perished in a fire this afternoon after a man allegedly set ablaze his rented home following an argument with his wife. Police are now looking for the suspect who has since fled the area. In the 5.30pm incident, Harian Metro reported that the houseowner, identified as Miss Lim, was alerted by the suspect's wife of his intention to torch the rented unit. "I was shocked when his wife said her husband wanted to burn down the house and asked me to come over immediately. "I told her to alert the police as I rushed over. Upon arrival, I saw the house already engulfed by fire," she told the Malay tabloid. It is learnt that nobody was injured in the incident and firemen prevented the flames from spreading further. The suspect's wife and her three children later went to the Pasir Puteh police station to lodge a police report. Ipoh police chief Assistant Commissioner Sum Chang Keong confirmed the incident.

Escalator 'explodes' at shopping mall

Shoppers at the Pandan Kapital mall in Pandan Indah, Kuala Lumpur, had the shock of their lives when an escalator there 'exploded' this afternoon.

It is understood that the loud explosion was caused by a technical malfunction on one of the escalators on the ground floor of the complex leading to the first floor.

The incident is said to have occurred at around 1pm and the management of the complex immediately called the technical team to repair the damage.

"The repair work was completed in less than half an hour," a source told Bernama today.

According to the source, this is the second incident occurring there since July.

News of the incident went viral on Facebook this afternoon.

No casualties or injuries were reported and it is understood that mall's management did not make a police report.

驚！新山油站爆炸 1人當場被炸死

（新山25日訊）疑油站液化天然氣泵洩漏，油站技術人員欲前往關閉洩漏口時，天然氣泵卻突然爆炸，令他瞬間被大火吞噬，活活炸死！

據了解，消拯人員趕抵現場后，已快速將起火燃燒的天然氣泵部分滅火，但現場依舊有液化天然氣洩漏的味道，油站員工也不斷疏散附近圍觀民眾，避免不幸意外再度發生。

此事件于今午2時51分，在奧汀苑3/8路的馬石油油站內發生。

據《中國報》向現場民眾了解，該油站技術人員在事發時，因發現液化天然氣泵洩漏，于是便趕緊走往該泵的開關處，欲關閉洩漏口，但才步行到天然氣泵，即發生爆炸事故。

他們指出，有關技術人員來不及逃走，不僅被炸傷，全身也被熊熊烈火狂燒，而在其身上火勢撲滅后，該技術人員也已被全身燒焦，回魂乏術。

爆炸聲驚動居民

消拯局、民防部隊和新山班蘭醫院接獲消息后，已立即派出3輛救護車、1輛民防部隊車和1輛救護車趕抵現場，灌救的工作人員超過10人。

據了解，油站火勢于下午3時25分已全部撲滅，但現場工作人員透露，液化天然氣泵仍持續洩漏天然氣，禁止民眾靠近油站，并圍起黃色警戒線。

一些油站員工也露出驚魂未定的表情，拒絕受訪，并且灌救人員全程也戴上口罩，避免吸入不良氣體。

由于事發油站后方為一棟公寓，不少居民被油站的爆炸聲驚動，擔心被波及，紛紛從自己的單位，走到公寓樓下避難。

Kebakaran di ICU, HSA: 6 mangsa ditemui maut

Jabatan Bomba dan Penyelamat mengesahkan bahawa enam mangsa ditemui mati dalam kebakaran yang berlaku di Unit Rawatan Rapi (ICU) Hospital Sultanah Aminah (HSA), Johor Bahru pagi ini.

"Enam mangsa ditemui - semuanya maut,” kata tweet jabatan itu.

Pengarah Jabatan Bomba dan Penyelamat Negeri, Othman Abdullah berkata seramai 166 anggota bomba dan 10 jentera dikejarkan ke HSA sebaik sahaja panggilan diterima pada 8.56 pagi tadi.

"Di ICU itu ada tujuh mangsa yang memang agak kritikal keadaannya yang difahamkan oleh doktor mereka terpaksa menggunakan bantuan pernafasan dalam keadaan normal jadi pesakit-pesakit itu tidak boleh dipindahkan sekiranya tiada katil sekali," katanya dilapor Bernama.

Othman berkata bagaimanapun kebakaran tidak merebak ke tempat lain.

Sementara itu Ketua Polis daerah Johor Bahru Selatan, ACP Sulaiman Salleh menasihatkan orang ramai agar tidak mempercayai sebarang maklumat yang tidak sahih mengenai kejadian itu.

Awal pagi ini, menerusi klip video dan gambar-gambar yang diperolehi oleh Malaysiakini, asap tebal kelihatan di wad di tingkat dua bahagian selatan ICU.

Kejadian itu menyebabkan pesakit di wad berkenaan dibawa keluar untuk dipindahkan.

Asap hitam boleh dilihat berkepul di seluruh kawasan yang terjejas.

為解決病患問題，柔佛蘇丹依布拉欣發出御令，開放皇家病房做緊急用途！

殿下於週二下午1時許抵達新山中醫醫院，與柔州大臣莫哈末卡立諾丁一起聆聽醫院院長、消拯局和警方的匯報。

殿下在事後詢問院內的皇家病房是否依然正常運作，並通過莫哈末卡立諾丁轉述御令，下令醫院開放皇家病房，以解決病患問題。

莫哈末卡立諾丁證實，6名死者皆是加護病房的病患，事發時，病患都帶著氧氣罩，不排除死者是因為呼吸困難而死。

有關媒體詢及，院方的消防系統是否有定期檢查，莫哈末卡立諾丁回應說，這件事情交由消拯局調查。

另外，他也提到，柔州伊斯蘭宗教局也撥出10萬令吉，給院方、受影響的病患和家屬，作為應急。

消拯局於上午8時55分接獲火災投報後，便迅速派出消防車前往現場灌救，而院方如今正在進行疏散病患工作。
