PETALING JAYA: A motorist was killed in a freak accident after he was struck by a lorry gearbox coupling at KM38 of the Kesas Highway.
Selangor traffic chief Supt Kamaludin Mohamad said the incident occurred at 4.55pm on Monday.
"A Hino truck was travelling from Kuala Lumpur to Shah Alam when one of its components fell off and bounced into oncoming traffic.
"The component struck a car on the opposing lane hitting the driver before landing in the rear of the vehicle," he said when contacted here Tuesday.
Supt Kamaludin said the driver died from multiple injuries at the scene while his wife and child were in the car but escaped unharmed.
"We are classifying the case as reckless driving under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987," he said, adding that the body of the driver was taken to the Universiti Malaya Medical Centre for a post mortem.
